12 month update!

The ups to turning 1 for K were having two fantastic parties with people who love her, the down to turning 1, a doctors appointment full of shots and blood work.  By far, the.hardest.appointment.ever. Poor thing, I have never heard her scream and yell so loud before.  My heart ached for her as I sat there holding her arms and legs down while the nurses did what they had to do :(   It was TERRIBLE.  BUT we made it through, and besides a few bruises from the needles, she didn't have too many side effects from the blood work or shots!  Now to the fun part of her doctors appointment!
Kiley's stats at 12 months:
weight: 22lbs 8oz (75th percentile)
height:  28 1/4 inches (25th percentile)
head:  19.3 cms (97th percentile---yes her head is huge!)

In case anyone wonders, at birth she was:
weight: 8lbs 9oz
height:  20 1/2 inches
and I can not remember her head size at birth.

Kiley is very very very busy at this age, it's fun, exciting and exhausting all at the same time!
Fun things about K at 1:
*has 1 tooth only!
*crawls like a maniac
*walks and cruises along tables,furniture, whatever but not independently walking yet (which is OK by me!)
*LOVES to clap her hands
*will put up her 1 finger when you say "who is one!?" "is Kiley one", etc. (so stinking cute!)
*says "no, no" and shakes her finger (learned that one at Great Aunt Sara and Great Uncle Bill's house watching us talk to the dog!
*sleeps oh so wonderfully! except, when our routine is thrown off, then we have some issues.
*drinking whole milk now, and really only likes to drink milk through a bottle (help! I don't want her to be hooked on a bottle!)
*eats mostly everything we give her
Oh there are so many more and exciting things about Kiley, but that is all I will share tonight!!

One year!!

Today was the day, the day a certain little someone turned ONE!!  WOW, this year flew by. It really seems like just yesterday that I was blessed with having this beautiful baby girl placed in my arms at the hospital.  Everyone warned me it would happen in the blink of an eye, and it turns out they were right!   This year has been truly amazing with Kiley in our lives, and I would not change it for anything.  It's amazing to think that we had a life before her.  She brings so much joy to each and everyday and I know it can only get better from here!! 

We have had a crazy few weeks, but this past weekend we went back to Iowa for her big bday party there, and it was fabulous!! (thank you to everyone who made it out there!)  Today we spent the morning catching up on sleep and hanging out, then we headed to see daddy at work--who ended up taking a half day to spend time with his little love on her big day.  We had lunch at Applebee's, where the WHOLE entire staff brought out ice cream for Kiley and sang happy bday to her! (it was adorable.)   Daddy had a cake made for Kiley so that she could have that tonight, so needless to say our night ended with a bath!  Now we just have the Illinois party left for this weekend!! I am waiting to post any pictures from her bday party until we have the next one.  Kiley will be wearing the same outfit and we don't want to spoil the fun!! ;)

Well as I look back and remember this day one year ago  I will share some photos!!  Maybe when I have more time I will post about the latest Kiley happenings, and maybe a post about the birth of our sweet little k.

wedding and hotel fun!

So a few weekends ago we traveled to Kansas for my cousin Matt and his new wife Jenny's wedding.  We had a great weekend celebrating their marriage!  Kiley had fun at the wedding, but also LOVED the hotel!!  Enjoy some pictures from our weekend!

P.S.  It is August 1st, which means..BIRTHDAY MONTH!!! And for a one year old, we WILL celebrate ALL month!! :)

less than one month...

It is official, we have an almost one year old....wow...where did that time go?  Seriously? I feel like I was just pregnant, just in the hospital with her, no way can this big milestone be here already.  As fun as each day is, with her learning something new, doing new things, it is still very sad to think that my baby is already almost one...  at least I have one more month to not think about it....
With turning one though, we get to throw our little princess not ONE but TWO parties, and I am so. excited. for her.  So my time now is spent thinking, researching and planning her parties!  The invites are ordered, the dates are set now it is on to the details!!

We love books!

K has a slight obsession with books (which is a good obsession!)   Last week I was trying to photograph her in her "chair" to get a cute picture of her in an outfit I love of hers, well we keep a few "nighttime books" tucked in the pocket of her rocking chair in her room...well, she found them during our  photoshoot-so I of course snapped some pictures because it was hilarious!

the 4th..part 2

So in Peru the big 4th of July celebration is on the 3rd, and takes place down by the river on Waterstreet.  Well it is crazy, and full of people (especially drunks) but we decided to brave the crowd and take K down there this year.   Well it went pretty well, we had one little melt down towards the end but other than that she was great!  Again, she loved the fireworks!! Here are some pictures of our little firecracker on the 3rd!

k's first 4th !!

Well being that the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays, and is also the birthday of Kiley Tess's name sake, I hope that Kiley loves the 4th as much as I do!  For her first 4th, we spent the weekend around home, Aunt Katy came down from Chicago for the weekend, as she babysat Kiley for us while I worked Saturday. 

On Saturday night we went to our first fireworks with K! Just Katy and I took her, Kyle was off at a bachelor party.  We went downtown Utica and it was a great time!  First we made a stop at Country Cupboard to enjoy some ice cream!  The fireworks were great and Kiley loved them, she clapped during them!  I was afraid that she would be scared by them, but nope, she wasn't!
